Impact on the Harlem Renisance and Beyond

The Harlem Renaissance was all all about bringing more representation of black culture into the community. Langston Hughes was a major part of this movement because he wrote about the culture and experiences of his race. Hughes not only broke boundaries with his poetry, but he also drew on international experiences, found kindred spirits among his fellow artists, took a stand for the possibilities of black art, and influenced how the Harlem Renaissance would be remembered. Langston's work inspired many other black artists and writers. Students still learn about and read Langston Hughes's work today because he made such an impact during the Harlem Renaissance and in american history.
